“I started working out at the Academy
of Tae Kwon Do in the fall of 1996 and with positive encouragement,
determination and hard work I received my black belt in 2000. A
few of my co-workers encouraged me to start studying Tae Kwon Do.
I originally just wanted to get some exercise, learn self-defense,
and relieve some stress.
Attending class has become a habit. Whenever I get too busy at work
and miss a class or two, my students remind me that I need to get
back to the TKD studio. I guess it is a better stress reliever than
I thought.
I have gained so much in the last 8 yrs with the TKD team. I am
much more confident and I am positive that I could defend myself
if I needed too. I am also much stronger both physically and mentally.
I am so blessed to have met the Littlejohn family and to be able
to work out with such an amazing TKD family here at the Academy
of Tae Kwon Do. The positive atmosphere, loving people and friends
that I have made here, have truly changed my life!”

Dear Friend,
How much is belief and security in your own
home worth in today’s world?
Think about it ... Suppose you were able to
have the confidence to get anything you want or go anywhere and
the security of feeling safe.
Picture this... You walking down the beach in
great shape; people at work come up to you and ask you why you always
feel great, and why you always seem to accomplish your goals.
Seems to good to be true?
Well... It isn’t if you have the right
instruction. You’ll look and feel great and have the confidence
to do anything.
“I have always been one to try new things,
to test myself and remain open-minded to new activities. I am a
person who is naturally active and enjoys different sports and staying
physically fit. At times in life, challenges arise, challenges which
test your determination, belief in yourself and others. They are
challenges which ultimately push you to become a better and stronger
person.
In the last year and a half, Tae Kwon Do has become an intricate
part of my life. It has helped boost my self-confidence, cultivated
me into being a more alert person, one not ready to get into a fight,
but to conduct myself in such a way to avoid confrontation but ready
should I need to defend myself. The training is more than that though.
The training has helped create an even stronger bond in my marriage,
Gary and I enjoy training together and learning from each other.
I have created friendships with others who train and have developed
a great respect for my instructor.
I do come to class each night with my cup empty, ready for it to
be filled with information and to be taught all I can receive. This
training, I see, is beneficial for anyone, young and old. I appreciate
the experience and look forward to months, years and classes to
come.”

Suppose this Happen on Your way home...
What a day I had, trust me if you think you
had a bad day then this is a Living Nightmare. My alarm clock didn’t
go off and I was late for work, the phone kept ringing and I couldn’t
believe how hot it was. Everything that could go wrong in an office
did today. The printer wouldn’t print and the guy came at
the end of the day to fix it. Then I went to print and ran out of
ink. I turned to get the ink cartridge and the computer froze up.
I went to get in my car and realized I locked my keys in my car.
Naturally, it took the locksmith all evening to get there. But as
I was waiting ...
These three guys
began walking towards me and the car. I turned around to see where
they were going and it was right for me. I was scared, no one was
around I reached in my purse to get my cell phone when one guy yelled,
“Hold it right there!” I dropped my cell phone in shock.
One of them tried to grab my purse and I held on to it with a vice
grip. Another on smacked me in the face and I fell down. They kicked
me and yelled, “Next time just give us what we want.”
The Blacksmith came and they ran away he called 911 and helped me.
Even after the police helped me I still didn’t feel safe.
I always thought I was safe in my small town, but now I knew I needed
to do something.

Since I was very young, I have been interested in Martial Arts.
My mother did not like the idea of me getting involved in Martial
Arts, because she thought it would make me aggressive towards others.
I started taking Martial Arts in 2001, when I was 15. I was very
shy, out of shape, and lacking in confidence, but Martial Arts changed
all of this. Eventually, I began teaching, which helped me with
my social skills. I attend college now, but I still enjoy teaching
on Saturdays. While I am at school, I keep myself in shape by running
and lifting. I believe that I have the confidence and self-control
to defend myself, if necessary.
My mother’s feelings towards Martial Arts have changed, since
she now sees the benefits that I have received from it. Most importantly,
I am content with the person I am today because of Martial Arts.
It has helped me in many ways...improving my social skills, teaching
me self discipline, learning courtesy and respect towards others,
and most importantly, confidence.
